5.0 out of 5 stars Nearly Flawless!, January 14, 2011
This review is from: Insignia Blu Ray DVD Player (NS-WBRDVD2) (Electronics)
Updated one year later: Still mostly great wifi connectivity, but it does drop out from time to time. Also if my wife is streaming netflix, it can slow down my wireless connection in my garage considerably, but usually is enough for me to get by. We upgraded our DSL connection and netflix streams start up pretty darn fast.

Original:

Picked this up for $89 on Black Friday 2010 (online shopping) and haven't had a single issue with it! It's our first blu-ray player on our first HDTV and I can't be more pleased with its performance. The updates have made it work better and even added a Napster application, although I don't use it.

I have zero problems with Netflix connectivity, and I am using it wireless with our modem in a different room across the house. We even have the lowest-cost broadband connection available in our area, and our Netflix streams NEVER drop out. They even seem to start up a lot faster than on the computer, which is weird. I am... 3.0 out of 5 stars Beware Firmware!, February 20, 2011
By
This review is from: Insignia Blu Ray DVD Player (NS-WBRDVD2) (Electronics)
The February 2011 firmware update disables the region change menu. It also improves playback compatibility - It's a trade off.

Now the question is do you want to pay $300 or $99.99? Wow - that's a tough decision.

1.0 out of 5 stars WORK UNTIL AUTO UPGRADE-NO SUPPORT-ITEM DEAD, April 10, 2011

Lindsay Rodriguez (Lecanto, Fl United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Insignia Blu Ray DVD Player (NS-WBRDVD2) (Electronics)
This Insignia blu-ray wireless player have an auto-upgrade firmware that totals out the machine. The customer Service and Support has very limited heip on this item. They final help is to take back the player to Best Buy under the warranty and it will be replaced. The only problem it that if the warranty has expired you are out of luck. I purchased their player Insignia decided to auto upgrade the firmware. This is NOT your/my fault, but Insignia. If it doesn't work (player has no power and is dead). Insignia support advice is to reinstal an older firmware and if/when that doesn't work then take it back to Best Buy. This problem is cause by insignia and can happen again and again. Check out their customer support site to understand the fustration. I ended up replacing it with a vizio blu-ray. If you get this Insignia Player make sure to get a forever warranty and you live close by Best Buy stores as you will be going there often.
