I have two high-definition televisions and I finally jumped into blu-ray with this DVD player. Set-up was easy with the HDMI cable. It does take a little time to process commands. Open or Close, for example, each take maybe 10 seconds. When I play a blu-ray disc, to be honest, I can hardly tell the difference compared to my older, upconverting non-blu-ray DVD player. Plus, although my television has 16/9 aspect ratio, all the blu-ray discs I've played so far appear on screen letter-boxed, with black bands horizontally on the top and bottom. I guess that's to be expected, -that movie screens are still wider than modern, wide-format televisions. That has nothing to do with this Panasonic DVD player in particular. I have just started to have some sort of sound problem though it only sends out stereo now. I had it just bitstreaming all the sound to my onkyo 875 receiver but now no matter what i do stays on stereo and I know what i'm doing. I guess I will have to move it to my other plasma in my bedroom. I have 2 ps3's on my other hdtv's so I am still good until I buy another blu-ray player. I might have just got a bad player, cause i have heard nothing but good things about this player.
